Brazil international Gomes has fallen behind summer signing Brad Friedel in manager Redknapp's plans, while Carlo Cudicini has been playing in the Europa League.
Gomes' reputation was dented by a string of howlers last season and although Redknapp insists he has no doubts about the goalkeeper's ability, there could be a winter exit.
Redknapp said: "He wants to play at the World Cup with Brazil, so it's going to be a problem. We'll wait until the next window and see where that takes us.
"He has done nothing wrong. He's a fantastic goalkeeper and a great pro. I just went with Carlo in Greece and he was magnificent.
"I'm very lucky I have three top goalkeepers here and it's unlucky for the two not in the team. They would get in other teams, for sure."
