Redknapp is facing a battle to keep Croatian playmaker Luka Modric at White Hart Lane after he expressed his desire to leave the club in order to play Champions League football.
Chelsea have had two offers of ?22million and ?27million rejected for the 25-year-old, who has also had a written transfer request turned down by the club.
Redknapp though is determined to show the required ambition to keep his top players and believes selling Modric or any other star would send out the wrong message.
"He [Modric] has a fantastic contract he but maybe he sees the chance to win the Premier League and play in the Champions League," Redknapp told Sky Sports News."He sees it as a big opportunity for him but we want to keep him as well, he is a top player for us.
"We have to show the ambition to keep these players, your Lukas, your Rafas, your Gareth Bales.
"If he [Modric] goes, he weakens us and if you start to letting your best players go who knows where we will finish up."
