Spurs kept their fourth place Premier League position with a 1-0 win against The Trotters on Saturday afternoon courtesy of a superb goal from midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
"I didn't expect anything other than a tough game today," the Spurs boss said after the match.
"People were saying to me we should bang in four or five but Bolton are a good team with a good manager and I knew it would be a hard game.
"Owen Coyle's done a great job with them since he's been there, the same as he did at Burnley before.
"He's gone to Bolton, pulled them out of relegation problems and they're a good, solid team with dangerous forwards.
"We had good opportunities second half to have got the second goal, we didn't manage to take one.
"But one-nil, it's three points, that's the most important thing."
"Tom's goal was brilliant. He's the cleanest striker of the ball you'd ever wish to see and it was a great finish from him."
