The Spurs boss admitted that he had fully expected what proved to be a tough game against Sam Allardyce's in-form Rovers side.
Jermain Defoe opened the scoring right on the stroke of half time and Roman Pavlyuchenko grabbed a second half brace to earn Spurs a 3-1 success.
"I felt today was going to be a difficult day because they are playing well. They are strong and they started the game well," Redknapp told Sky Sports after the game at White Hart Lane.
"The first 10-15 minutes they were on the front foot.
"I wouldn't have been disappointed if we had come in at half-time 0-0," he said.
"I felt we played well first half, we got on top in the last 20 minutes of the half and really dominated.
"I was pleased with the way we were playing and the goal was the icing on the cake. To come in 1-0 was a big boost for us, so that was important.
"They're a difficult side, they're in good form so to pick up three points is great for us."
