Ferdinand: 'Defoe should go'
Les Ferdinand has given his backing to Jermain Defoe's push for a place in England's squad for Euro 2004. Ferdinand, who partnered Defoe for six months at West Ham after leaving Spurs admitted that Defoe was "an exceptional talent and if he goes to the European Championships England will be all the better for it". Defoe has been an instant hit at White Hart Lane, scoring four goals in his first three games including two in Sunday's amazing 4-4 with Leicester City, for whom Ferdinand scored the second. The former England striker continued, "His second goal against us summed him up - give him a chance and he'll take it."
