Daniel Levy has contacted Sheringham’s advisers this week in an attempt to bring him back to the club, according to reports.

It is believed Levy initially inquired about bringing the 39-year-old back for the rest of the season but West Ham have been preparing to open negotiations on a one-year contract extension.

Sheringham started his career at Millwall in 1982. He scored 130 goals in two spells at Tottenham between 1992-1997 and 2001-2003.
