The 22-year-old has been an ever present for Tottenham since he made his debut against Liverpool last month. Head Coach Martin Jol has admitted he wasn’t keen to sign the England international this summer because there were already too many midfielders at the club.
However, JJ arrived at Spurs after chairman Daniel Levy finally agreed £7m with his counterpart at Newcastle United, Freddy Shepherd.
"I always like to play with a settled team. If you see my teams I always play with the same if they are fit," Jol told the Independent.
"He is a big buy for us and I know that he will be a big player in the future but I have to teach him to score goals like Frank Lampard.
"You can't be a big talent, a top box-to-box player and score one goal. You have to score six or seven goals.
Jol continued in the Daily Telegraph: "Jenas has bundles of talent but the thing is he must be more productive.
"At Newcastle he had three assists and one goal in more than a season. Here he has one assist and one goal already, so I assure you here he will be better."
