Etherington set for contract talks

The 21-year-old midfielder's current deal runs out in summer 2004 and his agent last week spoke of his "surprise" at the club's' reluctance to open discussions on an extension.

However, Spurs' director of football David Pleat now plans to host a face-to-face meeting with Etherington's representative Paul Martin in the coming weeks.
