Tottenham right-back Emerson Royal has confirmed that Atletico Madrid have made contact over a possible summer transfer.
The Brazilian moved to Spurs from Barcelona last summer and has since made 36 appearances in all competitions, netting his first goal of the campaign in the recent 5-1 thumping of Newcastle United.
That form has seen Emerson linked with a move back to Spain with Atletico, and speaking to Cadena SER, the 23-year-old revealed the stories are more than just rumours.
"Yes, it has come to my attention that Atletico are interested in me," Emerson said. "But now, I'm in a good moment at Tottenham.
"I don't know what will happen in the future. I like that other teams are watching my football."
Atletico are looking for a replacement for Kieran Trippier, who left to join Newcastle in January, and have largely been focused on signing Matty Cash from Aston Villa.
However, Cash penned a new five-year contract earlier this week, making a summer exit significantly more complicated. Now it appears Atletico are looking at alternatives, and that's where Emerson comes in.
Emerson stressed that he is in no rush to leave Tottenham, where he confessed that he is enjoying training alongside 'the best striker in the world', Harry Kane.
"For me, Harry Kane is number one in the world in his position," Emerson said. "Our plays all go through him.
"He is a player who can turn easily, can control the ball... I have never seen anything like him. He is very, very good."
