Inter's opening bid to land Christian Eriksen this month is reported to have been around £13m, as it begins to seem increasingly likely he will head to San Siro before the closure of the transfer window.
The Danish midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and it has long been seen as a formality that he will depart in the foreseeable future - either for free in six months or imminently for a cut price fee.
Manchester United have previously been interested, but it's Inter who have shown the most desire to get a deal done, seemingly pushing to get it over the line now as they look to fuel their title challenge with another world class addition.
According to The Telegraph, their opening offer fell in the region of £13m for the 27-year-old, but that is likely to have served simply as a starting point for negotiations, with Spurs holding out for around £17m.
The report notes that personal terms between Eriksen and Inter should simply be a 'formality', meaning the deal can be done as soon as a fee is agreed - but it seems that is proving to be a stumbling block for the time being.
Reports are corroborated, in any case, by renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who says via Twitter that Eriksen's agent Martin Shoots has met with Inter CEO Beppe Marotta in Milan.

He notes that the deal could be completed in the 'next days', so it looks as if it's all systems go on a January transfer.
Eriksen has started Tottenham's last four matches in all competitions in spite of the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, with José Mourinho showing faith in a player he clearly rates despite his dwindling prospects of keeping hold of him long-term.
