Regrettably, Spurs weren’t able to gather the three necessary points that home fans had been used to ever since the defeat against Chelsea at the start of the year. After the 1-1 draw, head coach Martin Jol acknowledged the spirit his own players showed on a difficult evening, particularly in the first half against a West Brom side fighting for their Premiership survival.
"I want to win every game but I can only give the team compliments because they worked very hard," he said.
Along with Bolton, Liverpool - who Spurs shared a 2-2 outcome with on Saturday, must play catch up on Everton in fourth. David Moyes side can now stretch their advantage to six points with victory in their lunchtime kick off this Saturday.
The Toffees take on Birmingham, the first of three sides Spurs have already shared parity with this month. Those results have allowed a five-point gap to separate the top six, but Jol’s young side must now set out to maintain their slight advantage of holding seventh place, starting with that trip to Highbury on Monday.
