Against Charlton the striker took only 14 minutes to put Spurs in front. Looking back on the first 45 minutes, Defoe said: "Going forward we were the better team."
"I was elated with the goal. It took a little deflection but it was good."
Afterwards Martin Jol said: "He has never disappointed me."
