Spurs were without inspirational captain Ledley King at Villa Park last weekend. He aggravated a knee injury in England's Euro qualifier against Macedonia, so Calum Davenport was recalled for the Premiership clash.
Ahead of Tottenham's UEFA Cup Group B clash in Besiktas this week, Jol said: "We were a bit unlucky with Ledley King again, coming together on a Friday after an international break was never ideal, but a lot of teams had the same problem."
"Having said that, Michael Dawson has done well and Calum played on with a broken nose."
Dawson was withdrawn as a precaution early in the second half after taking a couple of knocks to the head. He had missed out on joining the England squad after suffering mild concussion against Portsmouth on October 1.
