Welcome to SpursMAD's official deadline day thread. Keep updated with all the coming and goings in the final nine hours of this summers transfer window.
It had promised to be a quiet start to September for Harry Redknapp before Luka Modric's ill advised lunge at Lee Bowyer cost us his services for at least six weeks. His injury has forced Levy to dust off his chequebook, but who has Redknapp identified as his replacement?
If the rumours are to be believed then a left-midfielder could be joined by a centre-back, central midfielder and a new goalkeeper today, with Redknapp looking to build on the club's best ever start to a Premier League campaign.
Potential incoming: Niko Krancjar (Portsmouth), David James (Portsmouth), Martin Petrov (Manchester City), Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan), Victor Moses (Crystal Palace), Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton), Sandro (Internacional).
Potential outgoing: David Bentley (to Manchester City), Jermaine Jenas (Aston Villa or Inter), Carlo Cudicini (Portsmouth).
08:35: The Mirror reports that Manchester City have offered £10 million plus Martin Petrov for drink driving flop David Bentley. Sounds like a very good piece of business to me.
08:50: Sky Sports say their "sources" also confirm Mark Hughes is in talks for David Bentley. Clearly someone bought a copy of The Mirror into the office this morning.
09:37: Martin Petrov has a medical at Spurs Lodge, according to The Evening Standard. The article also says that, contrary to a report in The Mirror, Man City want Bentley on loan rather than in a player plus cash deal.
It's all quiet on the Niko Kranjcar front at the moment. LAst we heard the Croatian midfielder was due to undergo a medical at the club this morning.
09:43: Ask and you shall receive. The BBC's roving reporter, Sam Lyon, claims the Krancjar deal is done.
"I can confirm Niko Kranjcar is on his way [to Tottenham's training ground in Chigwell] for what I believe is the paltry sum of around £2m - bargainous," says the man from the Beeb.
10:11: The Guardian's newswire claims that Redknapp has been told by Levy that he can have just one out of Petrov or Kranjcar. Tough choice, Petrov is the better player but Kranjcar is younger...
10:15: More speculation masquerading as informed opinion, this time BBC Five Live's Mike Sewell get's in on the act: "Kranjcar is almost certainly heading to Tottenham. He's only got one year left on his contract and Harry will get him very cheap."
10:40: In all the excitement I nearly forgot about Osman Chavez, the Honduras international whom Wilson Palacios recommended to Redknapp. The defender is still on trial at the club and word is that we are trying to thrash out a last minute deal with his side, Platense.
10:44: The Guardian is reporting that Niko Kranjcar has passed his medical. Still no official word from either club.
10:55: Apparently the Guardian gets its news from the yellow ticker on Sky Sports. Earlier on it seemed as if the guys from Sky were getting their info from the newspapers. So, who is starting these rumours?
10:56: Nothing other than a small paragraph in The Sun about Victor Moses' potential arrival. They reckon a loan deal could be in the offing, but living and working near Crystal Palace affords me some slight ITK on the deal and there's no chance Warnock will want him to go out for anything less than £3m. Palace have no funds and desperately need a good striker.
11:30: A man at Sky Sports understands that David James is desperate to join Redknapp at White Hart Lane. He also understands that Harry feels the same way, but understands that Daniel Levy doesn't. Sky man also understands if you'd rather just cuddle tonight because you've got a headache...
11:40: Deadline day reaches never before seen levels of tedium, resulting in Sky Sports TURNING OFF THEIR YELLOW TICKER!?
11:49: Right, in the absence of any information, concrete, spongey or otherwise, let's indulge in some YouTube scouting of our potential acquisitions. Here is Niko Kranjcar showing off some nifty dribbling skills: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-9GUXEzy7Q
11:55: Here's a video of Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov, complete with genuinely brilliant soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU-cSpFUMJc
12:03: Talking of Martin Petrov, the Bulgarian came mighty close to joining the club back in 2007, only to decide on a move to Manchester City instead.
According to an article in the Times, then manager Martin Jol had been tipped off by forward Dimitar Berbatov, and asked the club to sign Martin Petrov, only to see the Bulgaria winger move to Eastlands because Comolli and Levy deemed his wages and £4.7m transfer fee too high for a 28-year-old.
12:14: BBC report that there are rumours hanging around outside the office, smoking and saying "what you looking at?" at Anton Ferdinand, who is apparently interesting Harry Redknapp. Oh god.
13:19: Sky isn't the only company full of understanding staff. A man at the Beeb understands that we are still very keen on Martin Petrov, though I am pretty sure we were told that four hours ago.
14:09: Mark Hughes tells Sky Sports News that Man city will not be making any further signings, ending David Bentley's hopes of a move away from White Hart Lane. Reports in Bulgaria say Hughes also pulled plug on Petrov's move in the other direction.
