"Only if we all work together can we make this team one of the best in England once again," he said.
It’s World Cup year for many of the first team players at Spurs, and Davids is no exception. Dutch coach Marco Van Basten has told Davids a good season in England could lead the 32-year-old to being awarded with a chance to add to his 73 international caps next summer. That won't serve as a distraction to the midfielder.
"I am very focused on the job ahead and will have to work extremely hard if I am to fit in," added Davids.
His first taste of Premiership involvement was in a four man midfield that included Teemu Tainio. After the Finn had completed his part in Spurs claiming a second victory in as many games, the club's new signing from Auxerre was looking ahead to the importance of a good result in midweek.
"If we lose against Blackburn the two games before don't mean so much," he said.
