Edgar Davids was in no mood, however, to heighten the expectation levels of Tottenham carrying on the high standards set recently by three successive wins in the Premiership.
"The main thing now is to stay consistent and get the points," he stated to The Times.
"It’s not going to determine the rest of the season, but it’s always nice to know on which level you are when you play the very big teams, that’s United and Arsenal, even though they are behind us.
"United have been successful over the years. They have this heartbeat in the whole of the club. When you have that every day, it can become second nature. In big games it is always there. I like that, I like that attitude. In the past, when they have had to play Arsenal, they make the step up.
Turning his attention back to Spurs and his hopes for the season, he continued: "Always the important thing is that the young guys are aware of their talent and develop quickly. We are still at the beginning with a young squad so everything is possible. There are reminders of Ajax - It’s really exciting.
"Aaron Lennon had a chance to shine and he’s done it very well. But it is early and I think he has to learn a lot still. We will see at the end of the season if he can hold it."
