This is all well and good except for a couple of issues. First is the little problem of a Champions League birth. Would Villa still be so keen to come to Spurs knowing that he will be in the Europa League next year instead of his accustom place in the Champions League? To secure a spot, Spurs must beat Sunderland at White hart Lane and hope that a now safe Newcastle cares enough to play the spoilers and beat Arsenal.
Another small issue is what to do with Emmanuel Adebayor. Adebayor has had a most up and down season though he has played much better these last few weeks. The question is, does Adebayor still have a place on the Spurs team or will he be shipped off during the summer? If they are to move him, who would be willing to take over the wages of a player that has seen his best days pass him by.
The move of David Villa all hinges on the Champions League birth. Without that spot, Spurs will have a hard time luring top players to White Hart Lane during the summer transfer window, much less keeping a tight grip on Gareth Bale. Spurs fans may want pull out there Arsenal voodoo dolls and give them a good stick.
