TottenhamHotspur-Mad understands that England International Darren Bent is set to sign for the club in the next 48 hours. Tottenham and Charlton had been locked in talks for the past few weeks with regards to a few, with the Addicks hoping to hold out for the same £17m bid they accepted from West Ham, with the Spurs board seemingly unwilling to go above the £13m mark. However the BBC are now reporting that a figure between those two sums has been agreed and that the player is set to sign.
The forward, who had recently rejected a move to the Hammers because he had his heart set on Spurs ever since the club declared their interest in January, will almost certainly become Tottenham's record signing and represents yet another signal of intent from the club that they mean business next season. The BBC are also reporting that Auxerre defender, Younes Kaboul, is desperate to join Bent on his way to N17. Kaboul, who shares his agent with new Tottenham playmaker Adel Taarabt, has been in talks with the club for the past few weeks, with a fee yet to be agreed between the two clubs. In what is set to be a busy few weeks for Tottenham officials it has also been reported by several sources that the club have stepped up their interest in both Atletico Madrid's Martin Petrov and Chelsea's Sean Wright-Phillips.
