Cobblers? It's true, Colin's off to Town

Former Spurs defender Colin Calderwood has left his position as Reserve Team manager to take up the managerial position at Northampton Town. Calderwood will arrive at the Sixfields Stadium with an almighty job at hand, with the Cobblers seventeenth in Divison Three after being relegated last season, and are on the back of a five one home drubbing by Hull City. Former boss Martin Wilkinson was sacked after just six months, and he had replaced another ex-Spurs defender Terry Fenwick who managed the side for just three months.

Calderwood joined the Tottenham playing staff from Swindon in 1993 and made 198 appearances, scoring eight goals, the most important of which came at Oakwell, Barnsley in the 1997-98 season. Caretaker boss David Pleat was quick to wish Colin well and said that the Scotsman was 'full of energy, ideas and most importantly ambition'.
