Chairman Daniel Levy said: "The difficulties with seeking a solution to our need for increased capacity are significant, they include low residual land values within the Tottenham area which in turn makes enabling development less feasible, along with a limited number of suitable alternative sites within London, all of which require land assembly.
Levy stated in it's 2007/08 interim financial statement that he would report on the club's preferred option in terms of either increasing the capacity of White Hart Lane or building a new 55,000 seat stadium on one of several proposed locations. The message from the club today was one of patience, yet the process has already taken significantly longer than originally projected.
Levy said: "I am determined that we shall work towards a successful outcome and a project of this nature and importance cannot be hurried."
Although he should be praised for his determination to ensure the club makes the right move, every season that passes without a concrete resolution to the problem is another year of lagging behind those clubs with significantly larger capacity stadiums, both commercially and, to a certain extent, on the pitch.
Levy clarified that no decision had been taken in relation to any aspect of the proposed options and that he would keep supporters abreast of the situation in the coming weeks. Just don't hold your breath.
