The club have announced the signing of Crystal Palace's 16-year-old midfielder John Bostock.

Yet Palace have relased a statement on their website contradicting the news.

It reads: "Contrary to reports from Tottenham Hotspur FC regarding John Bostock joining the North London Club, Crystal Palace FC would like to announce that no agreement has been reached for the services of the 16 year old and he is still registered with Crystal Palace Football Club."

If the club have agreed a compensation package with Palace Bostock will become Juande Ramos' second signing of the close season.

Despite jumping the gun, the capture of the precocious midfielder represents another coup for Juande Ramos who beat off interest from a number of the countries biggest clubs in order to secure the services of a player who only made his debut for Palace last October.

Sporting Director Damien Comolli, said: ""We are very pleased that John has decided to join us. We know he has the talent but we also know he is only 16 and so we will not rush him. He will have time to develop and will be working within a very talented development squad.

The player himself said: "I am definitely ready to make this move and Spurs is the team I wanted to join. I feel this is a club with a great future and this is where I want to be to develop my potential and improve as a player."

At the tender age of just 16 it remains to be seen when Bostock will be seen in the first team but according to sources close at the club the youngster will be placed on a fast-track development programme that will accelerate his progress.

Fans are also waiting on further news regarding Geovani Dos Santos and Richard Dunne. Fresh reports in todays national press said that deals to bring the two players to the club were at an advanced stage, with Dos Santos likely to cost Ramos a further £12m of his summer budget.
