The rising Spurs star capped a memorable ten days in his football life at the weekend as he bids to make it a North London double in our PFA Fans? Player of the Month awards.
Arsenal?s leading scorer Ramsey took the honours in the Premier League in September but, despite continuing his own fine form, is being hunted down by new England sensation Townsend.
After announcing his arrival on the international scene against Montenegro and Poland, Townsend was rewarded by his club with a new, four-year contract.
With his star still rising, the Spurs wide man took another galactic step towards super stardom with a match-winning performance ? and a goal ? in the 2-0 win at Villa Park on Sunday.
Playing with such freedom and confidence, Townsend showed why he is so highly thought of by both England boss Roy Hodgson and club coach Andre Villas-Boas.
Hodgson sang the praises of the flying winger in the week, and Villas-Boas was happy to follow suit after Townsend?s latest wonder show against Aston Villa.
"He is a fearless player. He doesn't fear the competition here and has the ability to produce performances to guarantee his place in the team," said Villas-Boas.
"He gives us so many attacking options and takes the team forward with his driving forward and his link-up play. He has shown all his drive and motivation to stay at Spurs and we are very pleased for him."
Ramsey, meanwhile, showed at the weekend that he?s not going to give up his fans? player award lightly as he again shone in the Gunners? 4-1 win against Norwich.
Despite starting on the bench following his international heroics for Wales, the super-confident midfielder lit up the Emirates with another glorious goal to add to his impressive collection.
Replacing the injured and stunned Mathieu Flamini, Ramsey stepped into the fray with grace and guile to conjure up a potential goal of the weekend. Well, almost.
In fact the award for the Premier strike of the weekend goes to Jack Wilshere who put the finishing touch to a mesmerising Arsenal move we will be talking about for months. Arsene Wenger described it as the best goal he has witnessed in his Arsenal reign.
Mesut Ozil also put his name in the frame for fans? player of the month with a two-goal masterclass but it still looks as though it?s Townsend and Ramsey who are going head-to-head.
There were many other stand-out performers during a fabulous couple of days of Barclays Premier League football ? but who will get your vote for PFA Fans? Player of the Month for October? .
