Alex Wynter- Colchester cant focus too much on Harry Kane

The U's are rock bottom of Sky Bet League One as they prepare to host Spurs at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, having failed to win in the league since October 20.

However, under new boss Kevin Keen the Essex club edged out Championship side Charlton 2-1 in the third round of the FA Cup, before being handed a dream tie against the Barclays Premier League highflyers, which will be broadcast live on Saturday lunchtime

While it remains to be seen just which team Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will pick, Wynter knows Colchester will have to be at the top of their game if they are to stop the likes of Kane, whose goal in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace was his 18th of the campaign for club and country.

"We all watch Match of the Day and we know the quality that Spurs have," Wynter said

"Harry Kane is on fire and he will probably lead the line for England at the European Championships

"He obviously stands out, but they can bring in other quality players too and there's plenty of talent throughout their squad

"We know that they have great quality, but we have to go about our jobs the right way

"We'll go out with a game plan to try and win the match

Wynter, 22, started his career in the Palace academy

"This the sort of game that when you are younger you dream of playing in

It is a great opportunity to play against world-class players," Wynter added in the Colchester Daily Gazette

"We have gone about training in the same kind of way as we usually do, but it is a big day for the club and the fans."

Colchester lost 3-0 at Scunthorpe on Saturday, and then were sent bottom of the table in midweek following positive results for both fellow strugglers Crewe and Oldham

Veterans Nicky Shorey and Darren Ambrose started on the bench at Glanford Park, so could come into contention for a starting place against Spurs.
