Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni has stressed that he was never interested in a departure from the Nerazzurri this summer amid rumours of Tottenham interest.
Bastoni was heavily linked with a move to Spurs and a reunion with former Inter boss Antonio Conte, who turned his attention to a loan deal for Barcelona's Clement Lenglet once it became known the Italian wasn't available.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bastoni made it clear he is not looking to leave Inter in the near future.
"I never had the slightest doubt about leaving Inter, here I have everything I need to feel good and express myself at my best," the defender explained. "I feel great with my teammates, with the club, I adore Milan and so why go elsewhere?
“I am happy to be here, I see myself for many more years with this shirt and, in the meantime, I hope to win a lot more.”
The 23-year-old also touched on the future of defensive partner Milan Skriniar, who has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain after entering the final 12 months of his contract.
“He embodies the Inter spirit," Bastoni said. "Milan have grown over the years and we’ve grown with him in the department we’ve built together.
“In addition, he is my best friend in the squad. It would be a real shame if he left us right now, I hope he stays. I think we will still do many great things together.”
