4 of Danny Rose's Best Tottenham Moments

Danny Rose has joined Newcastle United on loan until the end of the season, after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur.

The left-back featured just three times since the start of December and he will be hoping that he can rediscover his form and rebuild his career.

Rose's stock may well have fallen in recent years as a result of injuries and performances, but the Englishman, who has made 214 appearances for the north London side since joining back in 2007, has enjoyed a number of memorable moments in the Spurs white.

So following his loan move to the Magpies, we have taken a look back at some of his best moments at Tottenham...

That Premier League Debut Screamer Against Arsenal (14/04/2010)

Rose may have joined Spurs in 2007, but he wasn't handed his Premier League debut until April 2010. It was set to be a tough test for the then 19-year-old, starting his first game for the Lilywhites in none other than the north London derby.

It would have been the stuff of dreams to make your first start the club during a win over your noisy neighbours Arsenal. Bragging rights? Check. Three points? Check. Debut? Check.

Well, it was the stuff of dreams for Rose because he was on the winning side. However, he also scored an outrageously stunning strike that will be spoken about for years to come only ten minutes into his debut, becoming an instant hero.

As the ball came out to him, roughly 30 yards out and on the left hand side, the then youngster was expected to bring it under control and either simply lay the ball off for a teammate, or whip in a cross for the forwards to attack.

He did neither.

Instead, he thought to himself: 'Why take a touch?'

Manuel Almunia's punch appeared to have cleared the danger, but Rose set himself and unleashed a venomous volley that flew over everyone and into the net. Sublime.

Not a bad way to mark your debut, eh?

Goal in London Derby Against Chelsea (01/01/2015)

Danny Rose

Rose had scored a fairly memorable goal in a London derby on his league debut against Arsenal, but what about another strike against a different London rival?

Diego Costa had given Chelsea an early lead, but Harry Kane quickly levelled with a low drive into the bottom corner. Rose then slid in to tap home and give his side the lead after Nacer Chadli's shot hit the post.

It wasn't exactly an exquisite long range strike, but his goal was a crucial turning point in the match and helped his side get the win over Chelsea in a thrilling game that finished 5-3.

This goal epitomised everything excellent about Rose when playing at full fitness. His energy, desire and willingness to get forward and support the attack made him a nightmare to play against. The defender was quickest to react as the ball came back out after hitting the post and he was able to poke home before being completely wiped out.

Featuring in PFA Team of the Year Twice in Succession (2015/16 & 2016/17)

Danny Rose

Rose featured 24 times in the league during the 2015/16 season, helping Spurs to a third place finish. It was a season which many people thought the north Londoners would challenge for the title, which they did. However, Leicester eventually went on to claim top spot.

Despite this, the left back continued to shine throughout the campaign and as a result of his fine performances, he was handed a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

Perhaps even more impressively, Rose went on to retain his place in the Team of the Year the following season, despite only featuring in 18 Premier League games. This speaks volumes about the level he was playing at when fit.

His defensive ability as well as his strength and pace going forward made him one of the best left backs in England, with opposition players continuing to struggle against him - both offensively and defensively.

Display vs Ajax in Champions League Semi-Final (08/05/2019)

Danny Rose

Spurs were defeated in the first leg of their Champions League semi final clash with Ajax last season, losing 1-0 at home.

And their hopes of reaching the final were seemingly all but over after the Dutch side quickly raced into a 2-0 lead early in the second leg. However, the Lilywhites produced an astonishing comeback to win the match 3-2 on the night and, as a result, they booked their place in the final.

Rose started the game and while he may have been struggling for form, he was a key player in helping the Londoners overturn the deficit.

The Englishman produced a delightful piece of skill to nutmeg Matthijs de Ligt, before looking up and pinging a cross-field pass to Deli Alli, who played the ball into the path of Lucas Moura and he finished cooly. There was hope.

Rose began to find space on the left and as he made a marauding run forward, he looked up and played a pinpoint cross into the feet of Son Heung-min. The forward played the ball out to Kieran Trippier, ultimately resulting in Lucas finding the net for a second time.

Of course, Moura grabbed the headlines - and rightly so - for his hat-trick, but Rose was instrumental on the night.

At full time, Rose went to go casually collect himself a beer, before strolling around the pitch to celebrate with his teammates. Oh, he also took the time to slate Ruud Gullit for his comments on Tottenham's performance in the first leg.
