But no of course not, the national team showed the least amount of conviction, determination, pride, awareness etc etc that I have pretty much ever witnessed.
For the first time that I can remember there were zero Tottenham players taken to a major tournament, some fans may say that our players didn't warrant it, well I'm sorry but did the others!?
Ok Sterling and Sturridge I could maybe take out of that, but what did the others do? Cahill a lazy centre back that couldn't even be bothered to slide in to stop a goal, Hart a keeper unwilling to learn from any mistakes, Gerrard a Premier League player of the highest level that cannot perform at international level, Johnson a defender incapable of defending (but gets forward well), Welbeck a supposed forward that has no consistency to his game and then there is Rooney a player that has failed at every tournament for his national side.
So not only do we have a team that couldn't be bothered on the pitch we then find out from Redknapp that we have players that can't even be bother to put themselves forward to be included in the national squad. I notice that Gerrard is quick to try and side track us all from this world cup's failure, by focusing on that.
It's been a exceptionally poor season of football for me as a Spurs fan and to be honest I cannot wait for the new season to start and hopefully finally bring some good news.
Ok rant over, but hey no fan can truly deny that the players that played (started) the two games (that eventually knocked us out of the World Cup) were simply not good enough. Only thing that I am glad about is that I am not a Liverpool fan (it was their captain and forward that knocked us out of the World Cup!). Oh, I am also glad that no Spurs players were part of the shambolic excuse for an England squad.
The only way is up?
