Take it however you want and I will state now I don't know if I believe it, but the Willian deal may not be as dead as first believed.
Yesterday we hear that Willian was "mulling" over all opportunities (which mystified all Spurs fans as we thought we were the only club in for him). However it was later was revealed that RM had called Anhzi owner to put a bid in.
Cue complete disarray and twitter exploding with Chelsea fans laughing with the Liverpool fans, Tottenham fans straight on the defensive ("we didn't want him anywhere mentality), but then complete silence.
Several sources close to Willian are now stating that Willian is still in negotiations to thrash out a deal with Tottenham.
Now read this however you like. It could be Chelsea were always in for him, Chelsea decided not to let us have him at the last minute, we were never in for him, we were in for him and then have decided on another target, he was used as a smoke screen or the agent is doing his best to get more money (which could be true given that nothing has come out of Chelsea).
Personally I don't know which it is and at the moment I frankly couldn't care. Willian is a great player, however if his head is turned that easily he's not a player for us. I believe he would improve the squad and take us a step further, but there are some other important area's to consider.
This became apparent to other fans once the news broke of Chelsea's interest, but for me I said it before, if we get either Willian or Lamela superb, we get both best transfer window ever.
No one else can remember a transfer window like it (Spurs fans that is), We have won our opening two games, all new signings have taken part in the games and look good (as a minimum). Two of our new signings have already registered goals for us (Soldado already on 3 in 2), so really people are we in a bad position to moan if we don't get Willian? I want him without a doubt, but if he goes to Chelsea I wish him well and look forward to seeing him play (just not against us)! The culprits of all this are the ever present agents, you can blame the clubs & players, but it is the agents who are always trying to start a transfer (it's their biggest pay day)!
Let's wait and see what happens and re-assess from there Spurs fans, now is not a time to panic.... far from it.
