Wednesday will see Newcastle likely to be without;
Fabricio Coloccini (knee), Mathieu Debuchy (calf), Cheick Tiote (hamstring), Gabriel Obertan (knee), Gael Bigirimana (ankle), Yoan Gouffran (muscle strain), Papiss Cisse (back), Remy , Gouffran, and Cisse (however the later two are close to a comeback).
Due to injuries and transfers Newcastle are likely to have:
Krul (although he has had a minor knock and may not play), Elliot, Santon, Williamson, Yanga-Mbiwa, S. Taylor, Dummett, Haidara, Anita, Marveaux, Sissoko, Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi, Gosling, De Jong, Shola Ameobi, Armstrong.
It is not a particularly strong side and given that the Toon will be without top scorers Remy and Cabaye (recently transferred to PSG), two of their starting defenders and the back bone of their midfield injured it should be a relatively easy win.
It is unlikely that Sherwood will field a changed side so I would expect to see the same team from Sunday:
Lloris
Walker Dawson Vertonghen Rose
Bentaleb Dembele Paulinho
Lennon Adebayor Eriksen
Newcastle have not won or scored in three games (drawing to Norwich and losing 3-0 to both Sunderland and Chelsea) and have only one 1 in their last 6 games, where as Tottenham have won 50% of the last six. However 50% of those games Tottenham were not expected to get more than a point from (Arsenal, City and Everton).
With the on form Adebayor I would expect to see a similar score line repeated of 3-0 against Newcastle.
The only injury concerns at the moment for Tottenham are Chiriches (who is now likely to out for up to 6 weeks) and Lamela who’s bizarre and under wraps injury is going to keep him out for around 3 weeks (according to his brother).
Thinking about it Townsend may be considered fully fit for the Newcastle game so we could see Eriksen drop into the midfield three and Townsend drop in on the left!
