Striker alert

So let's say that we did land Soldado, where would that leave us with another striker?

Potentially we are now in need of some cheap options. Or is it that we need cheap options as we have already spent £24 million?

Loic Remy is a name that has been swiftly forgotten. The player will be leaving QPR this season and it is likely to cause a feeding frenzy once it is announced. Lisandro Lopez will be leaving Lyon this summer (he had announced this in May this year), again another cheap option that is available. I had in fact heard that a deal had been done for Lopez (after being delayed in January), but it’s all rumours. Finally we have Lopez's strike partner Gomis. This is another player that would be cheap option who we know can score goals.

Let's have a look at their stats for the past two seasons;

Gomis

2012 - 2013: 40 appearances 20 goals

2011 - 2012 53 appearances 25 goals

Lopez

2012 - 2013: 39 appearances 14 goals

2011 - 2012: 43 appearances 25 goals

Remy

2012 - 2013: 14 appearances 6 goals (he also played 12 games for Marseille scoring 2 goals)

2011 - 2012 42 appearances 20 goals

All strikers are supposedly available at under £10million and if we landed Soldado for the £25million (his supposed release clause) then I would have to choose Gomis as the cheap option. Lopez and Remy both dropped in their performance once they had made their decision to leave (reflected in the last season for the club), but are still proven  and accomplished strikers.

We have held talks with Lyon on Gomis and Lopez in the past as we have held talks with Remy in the past so I would imagine that the personal side would be wrapped up quite quickly, so if you ask me I would be pushing hard to wrap up Gomis before the likes of Newcastle get in there. If there is one thing that you cannot argue with its Newcastle being able to find a striker! Just look at Ba and Cisse.

COYS!!!
