So lets's play along and entertain this. Let's look at what has been said;
Bernard's agent has said : 'Dortmund have not submitted a proposal and Tottenham are the only contenders.'
Corinthians Deputy Director has said: ‘(Tottenham) is a club that we know who has an interest, but nothing official yet. Of course it will come. We expect it in the coming days.'
So IF (and that is a big IF) we managed to land two of Brazil's rising stars where would they go?
My thoughts are that our side would shape up like this;
Bale
Bernard Paulinho Lennon
Sandro Dembele
BAE Kaboul Vertonghen Walker
Lloris
Problem really is that Bale is unlikely to be ready for a switch into the striking role, so now we have a problem.
Do you drop Sandro or Dembele? It's the only option or do we move it all around again and drop Lennon?
We could have a three pronged attacking midfield of Bernard Bale and Lennon, with Sandro and Paulinho (Paulinho being the more advanced of the two) filling in behind, but it pushes Dembele onto the bench! In the interest of moving forward I would likely opt for this, but not straight away as the two players would need time to adapt. Another problem we have will be filling the gap up front. If we have all the pace in midfield we need to have a striker that can move just as fast and/ or can command the box. As to who that is Gomez may fit, Soldado, Leandro, I'm not going to get drawn into this right now.
One thing is for sure is that it would strengthen AVB's 4-3-3 formation.
The most important thing is that this would be a BIG move. The start of what Levy had promised at the end of the season (between Tottenham and Bale). You get those two players (and they replicate what they were doing in Brazil) then we would have a formidable force.
One other area that still concerns me is the Left back position. However we can go another year of having Benni/ Rose/ Vertonghen playing there and look at that spot another time.
COYS!!!!
