Many fans would say that it doesn't matter if we lose to Arsenal, as we'll still be a point ahead.
The truth is though that we can't afford to lose this game. Not only will our heads drop, but it will give Arsenal the boast they need to get back on track.
Looking at the remaining fixtures we have a tough March and April coming up and a win against Arsenal is what we need to push on. AVB has said it himself it is all about creating the space in points over the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal. The key for me is not finishing above just Arsenal; it’s about finishing above Chelsea and Arsenal. We cannot just focus on one. If we keep this in mind then 2nd is not so much of a pipedream.
As it stands we have won 4 of our 7 London Derby's and Arsenal 3 of 6 so we are pretty well matched on this. We are however expected to get one back over the Gunners after the loss at the Emirates. We should have done better and now with the form we are in its a perfect opportunity.
Many fans have said that Arsenal had been lucky with their results of recent and I am inclined to agree. Problem is that they are still results and it’s easy enough to get lucky with a result against us. So let’s not leave it to luck!
What we must do is realise that we cannot give Walcott the room to play, Giroud although struggling in front of goal (at the weekend) could easily sneak one in. We must get Bale right into the game, but importantly get the likes of Ade in the game, he was a catalyst in the last game against Arsenal and its usually the big games that we can count on him. If Bale is heavily marked it will give the likes of Lennon, Holtby and Ade the chance to step up and take their chances.
A tough game this weekend is yet to unfold, injuries could hit between now and then, but I still have the confidence. No matter who walks out onto that pitch come Sunday, I know AVB will have prepared very well for the game and I expect a tough win to be fought out by us.
So come on the WHL faithful, lets get at it. Lets sing louder than we have before, let’s show ALL the players they have our full support. The past is now the past, lets create further history and make this the pivotal part of our season where we push further than we have before, not leave it to the last game (and put too much pressure on the lads).
