A deal is likely to be completed shortly for Bale. He is in Spain enjoying the sunshine (we have all seen the pictures), but it is not just Bale that Madrid have the advantage on.
Erik Lamela is our main target and has always been seen as the replacement for Bale (not Willoan). We had been linked to Pjanic too, however he is not a replacement for Bale and we were never going to land him and Lamela (Roma made it clear that it was Pjanic or Lamela).
Garcia has already confirmed that he wants Lamela to stay (however we did that with Bale and look where it got us). So where the key comes in is where Roma's replacement for Lamela resides.
Di Maria (another Argentinian) is seen as the man to step into Lamela's shoes. Although the player had said himself he wishes to stay he has been told by the board that he is free to leave. The ex Benfica star has found it difficult this season (another player to highlight Madrid's ridiculous behaviour towards young players). After injury last season the player struggled to find his feet.
Roma do not wish to allow Lamela to leave without a suitable replacement and it is expected that Spurs do not wish to allow Bale to leave without a replacement. So not only do Madrid hold the cards on want away Bale they also find themselves with the player that Roma want.
The time delay in the deal was supposedly due not just down to Madrid, but also Tottenham. So with Bale being allowed to leave the country (on holiday) does this mean that we have reached an agreement with Madrid and also Roma?
I would like to think so, but would it be too hard to believe that we could find ourselves with Di Maria rather than Lamela?
Either way I cannot see that Bale has been allowed to leave without us having something tied up. As all three clubs will all be tangled up in the same transfer triangle you would imagine that it is not possible for anything to go wrong on this for either club?
Arsenal had been reported (on Twitter, nothing credible) to be in talks over Lamela, however Spurs could threaten their replacement Di Maria be pulling the plug on Bale. Madrid would not want this and you would imagine tell Roma to find an alternate target.
So if all three clubs are happy with the fee's and replacements could we in fact see a happy ending for Spurs, Roma and of course Madrid?
I'd like to think so as it's not as if anyone is friends in this circle (like Willian and AVB supposedly were).
Let's hope that my connected dots are correct and we can see a swift merry-go- round for the three players.
One small sticking point may be that Di Maria is reluctant to move, but I could see Madrid forcing that through, couldn't you?
Let's have everything crossed and hope that this stupid saga does not spoil our concentration for Swansea at home.
Come on Levy get in Lamela and finish it up with Chiriches, Haliliovic and Eriksen.
