Vertonghen is the main focus at the moment as a vast number of sources are stating the deal is almost done, however all sources point to a snag..... Ajax's valuation. Well interestingly enough they are requesting £13million approximately. Now forgive me if I am wrong but is he not worth it? I thought he was the player of the year in the dutch league for 2011-2012? Well realising he has 1 yr left on his contract and has supposedly agreed terms I fail to see why we don't cough up the cash for a dearly needed CB.
The funniest rumour is Del Piero, a 37 yr old has been that may be good to sell shirts in a Championship team, or ok maybe QPR. Come on though would a team that is consistently finishing in the top 5 have any need of him at all?
Then the next one is Rossi, a target that fell through and has been out pretty much all of last season and may take some time to get back into the game. So does that mean we could get him at a cheap price? Of course not, Villarreal need to sell but there are plenty of clubs that would pay a hefty price for him in La Liga alone.
Finally we have Loric Remy, firstly the guy states if you're not in the champs league I am not interested, so why bother? If he wanted to come he would make a decision now not on Sunday!. Everyone seems to forget that Adebayor is worth the money. The best striker we have had in some time (sorry JD, you are my favourite though), so why not splash on the wages and we supposedly only have to pay £10million to purchase. Remi including wages and transfer fee (now I am only going on what I have heard) would cost us around £34million over 3 years and Adebayor around £44million. But doesn't it make sesnse to have a proven scorer in the premier league? I think although Adebayor would drop on his wages (so it would be less then £44million) I feel it is the best thing to take him on and if we can get the likes of Rossi on a cheaper deal brilliant, if not bring Harry Kane through and go for someone that is an unknown talent or someone like Luuk De Jong.
Its sensible to add to the squad, we do need to get rid of some of the dead wood. So lets do some business and get in some great additions this summer and make it before the Euro's Levy lets be sensible about this!
