Erik Lamela has now been confirmed as moving to Tottenham, but by Roma! A statement form their website said;
"Roma announce they have signed a contract with Tottenham for the outright sale of the playing rights of Erik Lamela, in exchange for 30m euros.
"The agreement also includes the obligation to pay 5m euros in bonuses related to the achievements of the player and the English club."
This transfer has been a long time coming for Spurs fans with the supposed medical happening in the next 24 hours for the past week!
However what has come as the surprise for me was Lamela's parting words:
"something missing" he commented about his time at Roma.
“Perhaps I wasn’t able to express all I could’ve and wanted to do here," Lamela told ANSA.
"It’s also true that there was something missing for the whole team.
“I hope this season will go better. I saw the lads are hungry to do well and are very concentrated. I wish the club, the coach and my team-mates to go as far as possible."
"I am proud to have played for Roma and hope one day to return," he added.
“As for myself, now I hope to do well with Tottenham in London. I am ready. I want to thank and salute the fans who always behaved well with me. I embrace them all. They will always be in my heart.”
