Ledley in an interview has said;
"I rate the current Spurs team very highly," King said. "I think we've got a young and ambitious manager who's great and is going to do well for the club.
"I think we've got a great group of players at a good age where they're improving all the time and reaching their peak.
"The way the team are progressing at the minute, hopefully in the next year or two they will be really challenging for the Premier League.
"Hopefully this season we will finish in the Champions League places and then keep doing that. It's a big club and you've got to make sure it's not just a one-off, you've got to keep doing it.
"Hopefully we can qualify this season and continue doing that for the future."
Yes I agree that we have a great group of players and that they are all impriving all the time. The difference is that we do not have the genuine experience.
Many of our players have played in the CL whether with us or another team. The real concern is that the players can maintain a consistency to challenge for the title and also play to our best in the CL.
We are all too familair that in our cameo in the CL we started bad in the qualifers then grew and got into the quarter finals. However our league form certainly suffered because of it. Yes we can blame Arry and Levy, but in reality the players were not experienced enough in playing such a large number of high profil games. I will state that we undersestimated how much we needed to improve the squad in depth for the CL and Premier league game together.
If we get into the CL again next season fantastic, but I do not think that we will do as well as the first time. We were wild cards to many teams essentially and now they would know our team a lot better. I know the reason for treating Europa League as important is to prepare the players for the same packed fixture list, but most of the teams in the Europa League had not been the same quality. Lyon and Inter are both great but they have also both fallen from grace.
I think in order to push for a title we will need to have at least 2 years experience of playing in the CL and EPL to mount a true challenge. Also playing against the european teams will help the team to adapt further and give is the further experience needed to regularly beat the top teams.
We are close and I agree with that, but in terms of years I think we are a good 2 years away from gaining the experience needed to challenge and a good 2 or more world class players enabling us to make a serious challenge.
CL is where we need to be to attract the "big" names and once we are back in we have the chance of then progressing, but not until then. We are not going to attract the needed players and keep some of our current players without the much needed CL spot.
