As it stands JD is on 19 goals and is aiming to score his 20th against Brazil this weekend.
I will have my fingers crossed for the guy who has been a great servant to our club.
Here is what he had to say on the matter;
"At the moment, I've got 19 goals. If I can get that goal and get to 20, it will be a great feeling.
"I know that there are only so many strikers who've done it, so to join them would be a big feeling for me and a big achievement.
"If I could get to 20 for my country, I'd feel that was a great achievement. It would be fantastic for me and I would be really proud of that.
"There have been some great players who haven't got there and some really big ones who have."
"People know what they're getting with me," added Defoe. "It's part and parcel of football that people want to see new faces but all I can do is play games, score goals and prove I can do it. My record is there for everyone to see.
"Nobody can take that away from me. I just want to make that plane next summer.
"I will give everything to do that. If anything, my hunger to play for England is more intense now than ever."
I hope that this coming season is his best as he aims to be on that plane for the World Cup next year. We are the only club (as owners) that would benefit from this, so lets hope JD can complete this coming season as he started this season.
