AVB was a risk to bring in and although he had a good first season he has begun to stutter and go back to his usual stubborn self. With this in mind I would question why would we go back to a manager with little experience at the top again?
I said in the summer he was appointed that I felt he was too immature for the job and this is starting to come through in his naive and stubborn approach. If AVB was to be fired I do not feel that a young manager is right. An experienced head is what is needed and there are two candidates that I would look at.
Frank Rijkaard is out of work, although since leaving Barcelona he has somewhat fallen into the abyss he has since spent his time in Turkey with a Gala and then with the Saudi national side. I feel it would be a perfect time to bring in the man that set the foundations for the Barcelona team that you see today. He would be cheap being unattached to any club, but would bring a wealth of knowledge.
Marcello Lippi currently is plying his trade in China with Guangzhou Evergrande, but he is the original Italian manager. Hard, tactically astute and well know for getting the best out of his players (just look at his time with Juve). He is likely to cost a bit in compensation (unless there is a release clause), but he is really one of two managers in my opinion that could install what the team is missing.
Forget these young supposed promising managers if AVB is to go, look for pedigree, experience and finesse. If AVB was to go would you really trust another "up and coming"? Would they have the mentality to come in and change things in time before our season finished? I know I wouldn't risk it again.
