However taking my previous article in we are in a better position than last season, we have a much deeper quality in our squad and our defence is looking the best it has for years.
The main bug bearer for fans seems to be that we “haven't” replaced Bale, but in my opinion I feel we have!
Our left midfield has mainly been filled by Sigurdsson and I have to say I feel that he has done well to fill the position (for the time being).
Again I call on the good old stat charts to prove a point.
This time last year Bale had only scored 3 goals, the same as Sigurdsson this year. Now I am not suggesting that he will score anywhere near as many goals as Bale, but I feel that given the quality we now have in depth (thanks to the sale of Gareth), we now have 2 replacements.
Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela have not had a great start to their season, but one is taking time to settle in and the other has had injuries. Chaldi is the outright Left winger, however Lamela could certainly play in this position. AVB is slowly introducing Lamela to the English game and once the lad finds his feet watch out defenders!
The articles I am publishing today are all about coming to a realisation. We have many people and pundits stating this, that and the other about our team or individual players, but we should certainly ignore them all.
Another thing to look at is that Bale has only scored 3 goals so far for Madrid as well. This may be down to injury, but if Bale had of stayed then he would have likely only scored the same amount in the EPL due to injuries.
There is a silver lining to every cloud, but we have clear reasons to feel happy in our squad, how they are doing and that we have a very capable manager in AVB.
