Tottenham had got Fryers contract tied up last summer, but the steal fell apart as Man Utd asked Tottenham for £6million (for his training), but he then left for Standard Leige. It does seem rather convenient that we then pay Leige £3million and they had got hhim for free.
Either way it is some great business and I was shocked to hear that the deal was cancelled, but it then came out that fee Utd asked for.
In honesty I am very happy that we have signed him. He plays as a centre back or left back and has been capped at each level as he has grown up. Fergie was fuming to lose him so it tells you enough of his quality.
So hearing thy Kaboul isn't being rushed back doesn't panic me as much now.
I'm excited to hear of the next signing, which will be a Brazilian or a Dutchman.
