Many people are quick to forget that Gomes was a decent keeper, as was Paul Robinson. It is funny how quickly players fall from grace.
Gomes started life very well at Tottenham and any early mistakes were put down to learning the style of play. Gomes had been a great presence in goal, but then a regular occurrence came about.
Gomes started to suffer from the same mistakes as Robinson. He was still making some good shot stops, but began to position himself incorrectly, drop balls that he shouldn't, which led to goals being scored that shouldn't. Julio Cesar suffered the same thing at Inter (but this did not lead to the fans slating him or forgetting what he did do for them). Some fans need to look back through history on this!
Either way it looks as if Gomes will be set to leave for Europe and the Dutch league is a likely destination.
I would like to wish Gomes well on his new journey and hope that he finds a club where he can play regularly.
