We forget that Eriksen is only 21 years old, but after breaking onto the scene with Ajax in 2010 where he has won a trophy every year. In 2011 he was voted Danish footballer of the year, but he has 5 trophies to his name and personal achievement ranging from Ajax talent of the future/ year, Dutch Football talent of the Year, Danish talent of the year and the Dutch Bronze Boot! Plus along with that Eriksen has notched up 37 appearances for his nation and it is all too easy to forget his age.
Last year he managed 13 goals across all competitions and has just left Ajax with 2 goals in four games this season.
Overmars and De Boer clearly state that Eriksen will go on to be a huge success with us and I agree with that, especially with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan and Utd all keeping tabs on him at some stage, it should show his worth.
WIll he bring more to the team though? You bet your backside he will. Many players from the dutch league seem to adapt very well to the Premier League (Jan Vertonghen and Benteke are two to mention from last season alone). He is said to be Bale's replacement, but I feel that is too much to put on him. I think if we give him the time and space he will grow into a great player. He is exceptionally gifted, but has a very technical mind which is why he rated so highly.
When you have a legend like Cruyff stating;
"The talent is there, the recognition also; now it is up to the player himself. He is a typical product of the Danish school. You can compare him with Brian and Michael Laudrup. Only time will tell if Eriksen can reach the same level as them."
You know that the guy is going to do well.
A great addition young and talented, but importantly he is ready for the step up so I am delighted that we managed to sign him.
