After successful loans for Walker and Naughton (which have propelled both players into the first team starting 11) I was convinced that we needed to send more of our youngsters out on loan.
Although Sol Coulibaly has been loaned to a Serie B team in relegation it will provide the youngster with a great basis to move forward in his career.
He has now made his first appearance for Grosseto and the club have already said that they can tell he has class, but we have heard all this before right?
The difference is that the player has been given experience in the English leagues with the youth team and now he is going back to Italy to get some first team experience. Having moved originally from Italy it will not be a slow transition for the youngster and most importantly Grosseto are in desperate need of some flair and raw talent to bolster the ranks and raise the morale.
This is without a doubt a match made in heaven for all parties involved. But one thing I must say, if the player is given the chance and doesn't take it, we'll know its just another over hyped player that just won't put it out each game (sound familiar?).
We've bought many players that were dubbed the next "this or that" and they have failed miserably, so I for one am glad that we are taking the opportunity now to test the youngster and give him the platform to build on his first impressions made in the U-17's World Cup 2011.
