Capello is set to sign a new deal with the Russian Football federation after agreeing the final details of a contract.
After guiding Russia to the World Cup he will continue to manager the team beyond the tournament next year.
For me this could not have come soon enough and it is even more evidence that Levy had not contacted the manager despite rumor's flying around (especially after he was seen at WHL).
There are plenty of suitable candidate’s but it is whether they are available now and whether Levy feels that the club can wait until the summer if they are not available until then. With the next step being the most important I would rather we did not close off any options. This includes the likes of Sherwood, although he does not wish to be a short term option I feel that it is experience that he cannot afford to turn down. Likely this option suits both parties as he would be able to negotiate a great deal come the summer if he achieves CL and if he does not he would have the credentials to offer his services to another club (if not offered at the Lane).
Despite what Martin Samuel of the DM says it’s a long and arduous process and something that you cannot rush or compromise on.
