Barclay Asia Trophy: Spurs 6-0 win

JD was the man of the match with a hat trick (although he could have had two hat tricks).

The game started off with an own goal after good work down the left by Rose, in which S Tse deflected the ball past his own keeper.

JD was working hard throughout and showed that we may be able to put some faith in the striker in the new season (as long as he can stay fit).

It was JD that then made space in the left hand side of the box and he pulled the ball back for Dempsey to open up and hit across the keeper for goal two.

From that moment on it was the JD show and the pick of the goals for me was JD's third goal in which Sigurdsson controlled the ball and volleyed it with the outside of his boot to release Defoe through on goal, where he remained composed and slotted past Zhang in goal.

Townsend completed the scoring with a free kick from the right hand edge of the box 4 minutes from time.

It was a slow start to the game, but South China seemingly tired from their defeat against City and Spurs dominating most of the game. After going two nil up Spurs remained in controlled, but there was the odd lapse in concentration.

The save of the match though goes to Lloris. Martins had hit a shot curling towards Lloris's right hand post (which would have been a great goal), but Lloris showed his class and denied South China their clearest chance of a goal.

Again however the game has been marred by the reports from Spain that the English press has pounced on and created a huge storm for us, over Bale's supposedly agreed move to Tap'em Up Madrid.

A good game today though and was pleased to see Defoe looking very lively.
