This has prompted the board to re-think things (supposedly).
The media surrounding Bale has now forced Tottenham's hand to offer him a contract to double his wages from £75k a week to £150k a week. There are factors that will come into this though and these are;
1. Club Ambition
2. Champions League
This is the best performance level from our Tottenham side and to do this under a new manager is almost unheard of.
AVB has turned Bale's raw talent and helped him to channel it into a player capable of scoring 30 goals a season. Thanks to AVB's support Bale is surely heads on to win the Player of the Year (seems as only RVP currently beats Bale to points won for the team).
Like many fans it's nice to hear that one of your players is likened to players such as Messi and Ronaldo and Bale seems to be sporting a similar hair style to Cristiano, but he isn't either of them. Bale is his own man and quiet off the pitch (leading a very private life), he will be encourage with the comparison, but would prefer to have people compared to him.
This is good news for the fans, but only if we can achieve Champions League. This is a pivotal part of the clubs history (with the opportunity to be the highest finishing London club) and I feel that under AVB the players have found a new hunger and confidence that happens to have coincided with a drop in performance by both Chelsea and Arsenal. If we clutch this now then we give ourselves a great opportunity to build on it for next season and really push on.
Finally a mention on our competition in conjunction with ICONS.com. The Gareth Bale shirt comp is going down a screamer (much like yesterday’s result). We have had hundreds of entrances and the competition will be running until 29th March so make sure that if you haven't entered that you do below;
