It’s the biggest pile of rubbish that has been printed about Gareth and I am sure he wishes that this would stop as much as anyone else.
There are likely over 10 reasons why this story is ridiculous, but here are a few;
1. Levy does not wish to sell. A "no" from the Chairman means Bale cannot look at any contracts seriously or not.
2. AVB has said Gareth is going nowhere and is an integral part of the team.
3. Bale has not stated he will leave Tottenham if an offer came in at all.
There are several things that we are all (fans of Spurs or not) are calling Gareth, but suicidal is certainly not one of them.
Luka Modric committed career suicide when moving to Madrid and if he is honest (at the moment the grass isn't greener, other than in finance terms). It seems that players born and raised in the UK are not as stupid as foreign players in the transfer areas.
There will come a time (end of the season) where Levy, AVB and Bale will sit down and try and come to a compromise. If we do not qualify for the Champions League this season then we will find it very difficult to flex our muscle, but it will not stop us from keeping hold of him. Gareth loves England and is happy; as is his family (not forgetting the latest addition). When family is involved upping sticks just isn't easy no matter what money is offered.
With Champions League on offer to Bale we could keep him for around 2-3 years (which take him into his prime) at this point he has the experience and time to have grown into a formidable talent. This would then earn him a very large contract with big bonuses and signing on fee's so why move now?
As always other clubs, agents, newspapers, players and managers do their best to tap up anyone that takes their fancy. For me yes money would be involved, but so would pride. I would not sell my soul to go onto Madrid's bench (no matter how fancy it is). I would move to Spain but for the right reasons and not purely financial.
Too many players from here have moved into foreign football only to find out that it has destroyed their career! Get the experience first, test yourself out against these other teams and then you know whether its a move you want. If you can't give yourself that then you deserve all the bad things that come with a stupid decision based on money.
I would like to think that Bale is not like this, but in football nowadays you just don't know.
Either way; he's ours right now and looking good (ok Fulham game was not good and the injury suggests he's tired), but we could be about to see the best of Bale.
Come on you Spurs!!!
