Another striker gone: How it affects Spurs

Last updated : 17 July 2013 By Hoggg

Man City, Chelsea Arsenal and (of course) us are all in the hunt for at least one world-class striker to start the season with.

Chelsea and City were both looking at Cavani and now that he has officially gone it leaves a slight problem.

Higuain is up for sale and Arsenal have shown an interest, however again they have dragged their heels (as to why I believe is crazy). All of the top English clubs looking for a striker and Higuain fits the bill for all, but it is likely that he will go to City, Chelsea or Arsenal (as they can offer Champions league). However Napoli are now in search for a replacement, meaning more competition and less available strikers. Although I expect Damiao to fill Napoli’s vacancy.

Rooney is now certain to leave and Chelsea are said to be keen so I would expect that to take their full attention.

So we are left with City, Arsenal and us all desperate for a striker.

Negredo, Higuain and Soldado would suit any of the above teams however price now becomes an issue. City can afford any of the three, but are supposedly keen on Negredo, which leaves two strikers valued at over £24million. Arsenal have a large war chest (supposedly) so that may put us at the mercy of other clubs (if we are unable to spend big).

So although Cavani going is not a direct issue for us, like a game of Downfall it has a knock on effect else where to us.

I keep being reminded by readers of other potential's such as Yilmaz (however he will cost a lot and has been at Gala for one year), Seydou at CSKA Moscow (again supposedly he would cost a lot) and even Lewandowski (who has just came out and "accepted" he will stay at Dortmund this season). However all of these strikers will want Champions League and IF they became available would command a big fee. So it is not even a case of who is available, its a case of what we can offer (in football terms) and what we can afford (compared to the other searching clubs).

The never-ending roulette is spinning at a rapid rate at the moment and I can honestly say we are in for some surprises.

COYS!!!
