Considering the amount of money the youngster is on surely there is enough things to do other than betting?
He is placing the blame (in my eyes) on seeing the adverts come up whilst watching games in the hotels.
Well interestingly enough I see those same adverts, but I enjoy the game and find that it is enough to occupy me!
The need for betting is not something that any footballer should have a luxury of when it comes to football. It clearly states in the rules that no player can place a bet on a game that your club or parent club has played in during a season.
So why is it that footballers have the idea to do this? However I feel that there should be more done by the betting companies. They were happy to take the players money, but he obviously won the bets which is why they reported him. In my opinion the betting company should be fined at least the same as the player! How is it fair that they can do this? A fail-safe system can easily be implemented by the betting companies, but yet they don't care. The FA should have rulings in place to stop this happening on both sides of the table. It’s not just the players to blame.
Either way Andros is regretting his decision to make the bets, whilst the betting company are likely rubbing their hands together as they would not have honoured the bet and kept his original stake.
What are your thoughts on this? Should the betting companies be fined, should there be better fail-safes in place to stop it from happening in the first place? It’s ridiculous really to see in this day and age a footballer using betting to make more money and the betting companies take their bets in the first place.
