Last night it finally broke that Sherwood will be gone come the end of the season via the trusted Sky Sports website. For me it is not the media, Sherwood’s lack of commenting or even the club's official statements that confirmed it.
What confirmed it for me is that Ade made the effort to run half the length of the pitch to salute Sherwood, to which Sherwood responded with the same. They have a good level of respect for each other. Ade that Sherwood gave him the opportunity and Tim for the great performances Ade has put in since coming back into the team.
Ok without any of the comments this goal celebration would not have be commented on so much, however given what has come out it has only cemented the rumours as true.
However if we look at what Sherwood has said it shows a man that has accepted his fate:
"My future? I can't comment on anything on my employment, you will have to ask my employer about that.
"As far as I'm concerned, I set the team out well tonight, we outplayed Sunderland. We knew it would be a tough game, because they have got their threats, and we've done the job well tonight. On to the next.
"We've got five games left and we think we can win all five games. We don't know where that might take us.
"All I was focused on was winning the game tonight, preparing the boys correctly. You've just got to be professional.
Now focus on the below and most of which is pretence again showing that Sherwood is on his way out.
"It's been an opportunity to manage this great club and I'm relishing it. My record has been very good. In the Premier League, any manager who has been here, I think my win percentage is higher than any of them."
For me it is more about Sherwood trying to keep the team together for the final 5 games and not face the embarrassment of responding to further losses to a team Tottenham should never lose to.
