Although we did not gain on Chelsea, we did on Arsenal. We are still 3 points off of third place and I still stand by my gut feelings that Arsenal and Chelsea will be in for some nasty surprises with games against Wigan, Villa, Newcastle and Everton.
Last night was the usual hair pulling, nail chewing game, but I still have some feeling’s of being cheated AGAIN.
Chelsea were awarded a free kick that led to the corner that Oscar nodded in at the far post. The free kick was never a free kick and it was one of numerous highly dubious free kicks awarded to Chelsea throughout the night! Some Chelsea fan's will say that Ade was offside so one of our goals shouldn't have stood (but the linesman incorrectly judged Ade to be offside when clear through on goal), so the ref's choices for us cancelled each other out, but Chelsea were given far too many unwarranted free kicks. I am surprised that a penalty was not awarded when Rameries miscued his shot and crashed down in the penalty box (almost knocking himself unconscious).
In all fairness we came back twice and got a point against Chelsea away, although it’s not ideal, if it came earlier in the season we would have taken that point all day.
Certain players did not play well yesterday and certain players should have got a chance on the pitch, but again I am not going to rock the boat at such an important stage. Why bemoan players and go on about how you would have squared the ball or stretched out further etc. Remember the professional are paid for a reason.
I trust AVB, I trust the players and I trust my club. It has not panned out the way that I expected or wanted, but whilst the Champions League spot is still open there is no need to be pointing fingers and placing the blame. Look at it as the same old Spurs, exciting to the end!
Fair play to the rest of you fans that got down to Stamford Bridge yesterday, big pat on the back as I am sure those watching from home heard us all!
For me yesterday is over we didn't lose its still all open and although it’s out of our hands just ask yourself this;
Will Wigan roll over? They will be fighting for their lives as one loss relegates them near enough (obviously dependent on other results).
Will Villa feel that they have done enough to stay up? Of course not they could be dragged into it with back to back losses.
Will Newcastle relax with 3 points separating them from the Wigan (especially with goal difference is the same)? No matter what Newcastle have the pride to keep going til the very end.
Although we will play Sunderland, a win against Southampton secures their premier league status and therefore the final game will only mean something to us.
Although certain players from certain teams say we do not have what it takes, I think results against them, Utd and our league position say otherwise!
